Unlike Hybrid cars electric cars don't have a gasoline engine for charging the battery and the drive system is totally electric, and an electric motor provides the propulsion for the car...

Another advantage is that because of this, the motor provides more torque than a gasoline engine can, which means quicker acceleration, so you will notice a breathtaking difference in the performance of the car compared to a gasoline car...

Also there are newer types of car which provide an internal charger set like the Chevy Volt, and this runs after the battery pack depletes to a preset level.

This is a small gasoline engine which allows the car to be completely electrically driven, while providing the long distance travel many people require of their cars...

This gives the best of both worlds and may become the standard type of electric car in the near term, unless there are some major improvements in battery performance and may be how electric cars work in the near future...
